About This Light

Hasu is the Japanese word for lotus, and the shade takes the flower's shape: a bowl of pressed green glass that opens into ribbed, scalloped petals. Switched on, the glass glows a pale lime green, and the warm tip of the bulb shows just below the petal edge.

At 25 cm (9.8 in) across it is made for one spot rather than a whole room: over a small dining table, low beside a bed in place of a lamp, or above a reading chair. The brass-tone holder and twisted fabric cord give it an old-world feel that sits easily with plaster walls, oak and linen.

  • Shade: pressed green glass with a ribbed, scalloped lotus-petal edge; 25 cm (9.8 in) wide and about 14 cm (5.5 in) tall
  • Holder: brass-tone metal lampholder with a small knob switch on the side
  • Cord: twisted fabric-covered cord, 1.5 m (59 in) long
  • Light: a soft green-tinted glow through the glass; pair it with a warm white LED bulb
  • Bulb: not included
  • Voltage: 90–260 V AC, works on standard US 110–120 V wiring

Installation and care: Have a qualified electrician install it at the ceiling. Dust the glass with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe it with a damp one only when the light is off and cool.

01

A pool of green light over the table

Hung over a small dining table, Hasu lays a soft, green-tinted light across the tabletop and leaves the rest of the room quiet. At 25 cm (9.8 in) across it is made for one spot rather than a whole room.

02

Pressed glass, petal by petal

The shade is pressed green glass, ribbed and scalloped into lotus petals, so the light catches on every ridge. Above it, a brass-tone holder with a small side knob hangs from a twisted fabric cord.

03

A knob at the lamp, a long cord

Turn it on and off with the small knob on the holder. The 1.5 m (59 in) fabric cord lets it hang low beside a chair or a bed, and the glass needs only a soft, dry cloth, or a damp one when the light is off and cool.

Questions

How big is the shade, and how low can it hang?

The glass shade is 25 cm (9.8 in) wide and about 14 cm (5.5 in) tall, on a 1.5 m (59 in) twisted fabric cord. It is sized to light a small dining table, a bedside or a reading chair rather than a whole room.

Is a bulb included, and will it work in the US?

The bulb is not included; a warm white LED bulb suits it best. It runs on 90-260 V AC, which covers standard US 110-120 V wiring, and should be installed at the ceiling by a qualified electrician.

How long does delivery take, and can I return it?

Orders are processed in 1-3 days and delivered in 7-15 days from our suppliers' warehouses overseas. If it isn't right, you have 30 days to return it, and we cover the return shipping.
