Kado, the Japanese word for a gate or a corner, is a traditional square lantern made for the places you arrive: a covered porch, a front door, a gate pillar. Behind ribbed glass panels a single warm bulb turns into soft vertical lines of light, framed by a pitched cap and a flared base in a textured dark bronze.
At 13.8 in tall it is sized for a doorway or a pillar rather than a grand facade: use one beside a door, or a pair to frame it. The finish reads near-black at dusk and brown-bronze in daylight, and sits easily with brick, stone, render and timber.
