About This Light
Kasane means layers, and the lamp is built from them: three rounded tiers of white rice paper stacked into one soft column and lifted off the surface on four thin black wire legs. Lit, the paper turns a warm ivory and the fine ribs of the frame show through as faint horizontal lines.
Its light is diffuse and low, more glow than task light. At 43 cm (17 in) tall it works on a side table next to an armchair, at the foot of a bed, or set straight on the floor in a corner where an overhead light would feel too hard.
