About This Light
Sugi is a small half-cylinder of fine vertical flutes, finished matte, with a softly irregular lower edge that looks worked by hand. Light rises over the top and falls from beneath, so the ribs stand out in gentle relief while the wall above and below takes a quiet wash of light.
At 6.5 inches tall it suits a bedside wall, a narrow hallway or either side of a mirror, and it looks its best in pairs. The colors are muted on purpose: a sage-to-olive green, a chalky white and a dark slate gray that each sit easily against plaster, limewash or pale wood.
